Running Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024 to raise funds for Project Pragati

I have been a Long distance runner for over 10 years and like many Runners I have gone through my phase of signing up for many events and running and then losing the mojo and not feeling motivated to run for long stretches of time. This pic of me running my first Mumbai Marathon way back in 2014 :-)

But a few months ago, I decided to put my Running shoes back on, not just to run events, but to create a larger impact on the society we will in. I am signing up to run the Full Marathon (42.195 KM) at the Tata Mumbai Marathon on 21st Jan 2024. But this is no ordinary run, I am doing this to raise funds for Project Pragati - an initiative by the NGO "United Way India" to work towards improving sanitation facilities and promoting proper hygiene practices within schools, with a focus on access to clean and safe toilets and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) platforms. This initiative will ensure creation of a conducive learning environment by addressing critical sanitation and hygiene challenges in schools.

I have set a target for raising Rs 50 Lakhs between now and Jan 2024 for this purpose. This a huge ask, but I am sure that this number can be achieved with the help of friends and well wishers who want to make a difference to children and their education. All donations are eligible for Sec 80G exemptions for Income Tax
